Archived July 15, 2016: Pick before we prune

Even though our field is still loaded with blueberries, we need to plan when our year end pruning will be done. This pruning sets up the plants for next year’s fruiting. If we wait too late, it will reduce the amount of fruit that the plants will set.
With that in mind, we will need to start pruning on Sunday, July 24th.
This means that we will have 4 more days of picking in the full field:  tomorrow, Saturday, July 16th, then next week Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday the 23rd.  The hours for each day will be 7am to 1pm.
Please take this opportunity to plan your trips to our farm. The blueberries are still plentiful, beautiful, delicious and so easy to pick.
See you soon.     Betty

Archived July 11, 2016: Blueberries, blueberries!!!

We will be open tomorrow, Tuesday, July 12th from 7 am to 1 pm.
Blueberries are so loaded that you can pick a bucket off one bush!
We are sometimes asked what is the difference between our berries and the ones you get in the store. Store berries are usually mechanically harvested. This means that the varieties are grown for the ability to withstand the shaking of the harvester, to last a long time on the shelf, and to ripen all at once. Our berries, on the other hand, are chosen to have great flavor and to ripen over time so that they can be enjoyed longer.
We will have some blackberries and the raspberries are coming in stronger once again.

See you soon,   Betty

Hi Everyone,
Thanks to the pickers who braved the rain on Tuesday.
We might not be so fond of a berry field in the rain, but the berries were pleased as punch to see it come.
The blackberries are hanging on the vines again waiting for someone to take them home. The blueberries are getting fatter and sweeter and even more plentiful.
Come out tomorrow and beat the Saturday rush. We will be picking from 7am to 1pm. It’s the peak of the season so don’t miss out.
